This Short Tailed Hawk light morph is white underneath with strongly barred tail and flight feathers. It has a well defined dark hood with white throat and light patch in front of eyes. Upperside of wings and back is brown. There is also a dark morph.

The Short-tailed Hawk can be found from Florida to southern Brazil. The one pictured was seen in the El Valle mountains, in central Panama, another was seen near Canopy Tower.
