Beautiful Sunbirds were regularly seen in most locations in Gambia. Seemed to be the most common sunbird, often seen in gardens. But females and juveniles are difficult to identify.

The male Beautiful Sunbird usually has two long tail streamers, but sometimes these are missing, as above. Red chest bordered by yellow. Green belly and head.

The Pygmy Sunbird was often seen upriver near Janjanbureh. Long tail streamers on adult male like the Beautiful Sunbird, but different colours - all yellow underside.

I saw Splendid Sunbirds at several locations in Gambia. Easy to overlook. The female below is more yellow than usual - so conceivably a different species.
