The Common Tody Flycatcher doesn’t mind nesting in bushes in gardens and near houses, and was easy to see in Panama.
The Common Tody Flycatcher is a small bird, yellow below and black above with pale iris with broad bill. It makes a pendulous nest with side entrance. This nest was in a small tree beside a hotel forecourt.

Just a record shot of the Black-headed Tody Flycatcher in Panama. It is a tiny bird, which likes to stay at the top of tall trees so very difficult to photograph!
The Black-headed Tody Flycatcher is yellow below, dark above but with white throat.

The Yellow-lored Tody-Flycatcher is instantly recognisable by its yellow “head-lights”. Its iris has a hint of red, underparts are bright yellow, and upperside and head mostly darker greenish with black and yellow highlights, with two yellow wingbars.
The Yellow-lored Tody-Flycatcher has a relatively small range. It is only found in Brazil, in the eastern part of the country, from Bahia to Santa Catarina.More photos...
