Record shots of a very nice looking hummingbird, the Purple Crowned Fairy. Both male and female have pure white underneath, making them relatively easy to identify. The male has a bright violet forecrown, black eye stripe and bright green neck. The female has a green forecrown. The immature Purple-crowned Fairy has grey spotting to throat (lowest photo).
Seen here near the Canopy Tower in central Panama.
