A large group of Band-tailed Pigeons were seen eating the yellow fruit of this tree in Chiriqui, western Panama, in May. In Panama, this species is only found in the western highlands. This race is sometimes known as the White-naped Pigeon, Patagioenas albilinea.
Band-tailed Pigeons are large pigeons, with a distinctive white band at the back of the neck, bright yellow bill and feet, a black band on tail, with well-defined lighter grey end of tail. There is a patch of irridescent green on the back of the neck.
